Comic Party - Mizuki Takase

Comic Party – Mizuki Takase

26 Comic Party Mizuki Takase

One figure I’ve had for a very long time now is this Comic Party Mizuki Takase, by Kotobukiya. She’s actually been through quite the history with me, even though I don’t really think too much about her.

21 Comic Party Mizuki Takase

I bought her I think about 4 years ago when I saw her in the Previews catalog. There was something about her that I really liked. I think it’s the cute smile or something.
22 Comic Party Mizuki Takase

A friend of mine would frequently help me 0rder my figures, because I really had no means of ordering them myself. Well, actually I did, but there’s a reason why I didn’t. Anyway, he helped me order it, and several months later, she was released.

She ended up sitting on my shelf for quite a while. I remember sharing a photo or two of her on figure.fm when it was first established. Since I’ve always been lazy, I never really dusted her either. Poor neglected pvc girl…

23 Comic Party Mizuki Takase

Eventually, I took her to my workplace and displayed her at my office shelf. She was one of the “safe for work” figures, so I decided she’d make a good candidate. She had been in my office ever since.

24 Comic Party Mizuki Takase

A couple years ago, I got laid off, so I had to pack her up, and bring her home. The thing was, I didn’t have room to really display her anywhere. I had accumulated so many figures over the years at work, and at home, that I never accounted for the possibility that I would have all those figures at home. Fortunately, she was in good company, as many of my favorites were also put into storage.

25 Comic Party Mizuki Takase
She stayed in storage for a while, until the last half a year or so, when I pulled her out again, dusted her off, and put her in one of my Detolf shelves. Now, poor Mizuki is gonna be let go. She’s really sweet, so I’m a little sad to see her go, but I’ve gotta make more room, and free up more funds.

20 Comic Party Mizuki Takase

An absolutely brilliant and beautiful figure for the sale price of $35. If she sells, then I’ll be glad she’s going to a good home where someone will take good care of her. If not, well I’d be okay with that too.

EDIT: She’s been sold!

Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear - Kotobukiya

Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear – Kotobukiya

04 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

Going through my backlog of already snapped photos, I decided to post this one. Quite the stunning figure that I bought a while back. She’s out of print, and like many Kotobukiya figures, you won’t see re-release. 20 more photos after the jump!

If you don’t already know, her name is Natalia from Tales of the Abyss, a wonderful Namco game that I heard is one of the best in the series. I never had the chance to play it though. Too much backlog!

01 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

Full view shot. She’s 1:8 scale, but she’s a pretty big 1:8 scale in my opinion. The details on are are very simplistic, which is a rarity for me these days, as anything less detailed than Queen’s Gate Alice is usually a no-go (still haven’t done a shoot of her yet either…)

02 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

What attracted me about her was how clean the details were. The lines are very well sculpted and perfect. For a Kotobukiya figure, that’s also a rarity for that generation of figures. They’ve gotten a lot better these days, but their sculpt lines are still sometimes messy.

03 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

This shot shows off her mid-section and face quite well. I really like the belt and the buttons on her. It’s like really the only area in the whole figure that has a higher concentration of detail. She’s got a pretty cute face too! Makes me want to pinch her cheeks.

05 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

The hair tips aren’t the greatest. They’re a bit thick, but judging from the overall style of the sculpt, it seems fitting. The quality on is typical Kotobukiya to me. Same with the seam line running down the side of her dress. Great paint work on her stockings and boots though.

06 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

What I also liked about this figure is that she carries a bow. I’m a sucker for anyone carrying bow and arrows. I’ve sorta gotten over that now, since I’ve got several bow-toting hotties.

07 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

Her hair is very simple yet clean as well. Not as clean as I’d like though. It’s a shame you can see the seam line on her arm.

08 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

It’s actually difficult to get a nice clear shot with a low aperture to get both the face and the arrow in focus. I blame my lame kit lens, but whatever. Low aperture provides more light, and creates more depth anyway.

09 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

This is a pretty good shot. I was thinking of making a wallpaper out of it, but then I need time to photoshop it to make it look more interesting.

10 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

The back view. That quiver of arrows also looks incredibly clean. It’s like a perfect cylinder!

11 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

Those whispy things are kinda cool. It totally matches the color of her outfit too. Is that Mako Energy?!

12 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

The tips of the bows have a rather unique and interesting design. They do kinda remind me of Kureha’s bow, though these tips are more interesting. They have a sort of South African feel to them.

13 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

Dancing with the whisps.

14 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

I was going to toss this shot because it showed a part of the light, and the top of the paper background, but it actually adds a bit of interest to it.

15 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

Sorry, no pantsu.

16 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

Close-ups are always nice. Check out those huge eyes! (Obviously not the other pair). The little neck scarf is pleasantly done. I also like the buckle a lot, and the little buttons in the middle are neat too.

17 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

This is the original packaging she came in. Mint is also packaged like this. All of it is completely transparent with awesome glyphs all around. I’ve never seen any other Kotobukiya packaging like this. Heck, any other figure besides Alter’s KOS-MOS Ver 4. (need to open that up and do a shoot of her sometime too).

18 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

That bow and arrow is kick ass.

19 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

Glyphs surround the package. Very nicely done.

20 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

The top of the box. Man that is a hell of a long name!

21 Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear Kotobukiya

The underside of the box. I actually don’t like the lighting they chose for this. It isn’t very flattering, and actually makes the figure/packaging look decidedly old-school.

And just so you know, this figure is up for grabs. If anyone is interested, email me at info.at.radiantdreamer.dot.net.

I apologize that this shoot isn’t Raquel Gothic. I’m actually waiting for a good day to do an outdoor shoot for her. Tune in next time for it though!

EDIT: This figure has now been sold for my asking price of $60.

It’s been a while since I posted a figure photo shoot.

One figure I would like to share is my Yuki Nagato (Suzumiya Haruhi) nendoroid. My second Nendoroid, it took a lot of back and forth before I committed. So here for you all is my Yuki in relatively high resolution images. You can use them as wallpaper or something if you like. More pix after the jump! (caution, high bandwidth!)

Sakura Shinguji

Sakura Shinguji

3252837930 e7724a46f2 Sakura Shinguji

Here’s a figure that I’ve had for not too long. Sakura Shinguji, from Sakura Taisen. She’s 1:10 scale, PVC. Made by Good Smile Company’s Max Factory. Considering her size, the detail on her is very meticulous. You can’t even tell she’s a small figure. Actually, the size of it adds to the overall neatness of this figure.

More photos after the jump!

3252007133 5660bcabe0 Sakura Shinguji

The display base is nicely decorated, adorned with a golden pathway and fallen sakura blossoms. I wish I had time to do some photoshop, because I’ve got some ideas for this figure.

3252011095 15deaea118 Sakura Shinguji

A close up shot of her shows some excellent detail in both her eyes, and her hair. The pose is quite dynamic, and looks great at multiple angles.

3252834242 e7c4a232a2 Sakura Shinguji

Close up from the other side. Check out the detail on her glove! And that face is absolutely adorable!

3252004751 97b4e38b3c Sakura Shinguji

You may be wondering why she’s in a box. Yup, she’s for sale. Why do I want to sell such a wonderful figure? As I had said earlier, I’m clearing some room. If you’ve read My Story, you’ll know that I already have a Sakura Shinguji from my wife. Though the quality if this figure is obviously far superior, I think that I don’t need to have two anymore. If I had the space, I’d keep her. She’s up for grabs here first, for my readers if anyone is interested, send me an email at info (at) radiantdreamer (dot) net.

UPDATE: This figure is now sold. Domo arigato!

Rei Party Dress

Rei Party Dress

3299475662 4a5ec937aa o Rei Party Dress

This is a very pretty figure that I’ve had for a while. I bought her from the Diamond Comics Previews catalogue. I just love how elegant and simple she is. Manufactured by Kotobukiya, she’s approximately 1:8 scale. More photos after the jump!

3298646357 397ce5b68f Rei Party Dress

Here she is packaged up. Yeah, I decided to sell her. That’s been happening a lot lately, eh? This one, like Caren Hortensia, sold before I posted her here. The packaging is actually quite nice. It works very well as a display piece on its own.

 Rei Party Dress

As you can see, they put quite a bit of attention to the inside of the box as well.

 Rei Party Dress

The amount of detail in this simple figure is pretty good. The creases in her clothes look realistic. The collar is nicely detailed, and so are the earrings. She has a very pleasant face to match the dress.

 Rei Party Dress

Words can’t describe how buying her own a whim lead to an artistic admiration of the elegance of this figure. I’ve had her for a while now, but never really took the time to appreciate her. I’m sure that her new owner will value her more than I ever did, since this is the first figure in his collection.

 Rei Party Dress

I’m glad that this figure is the first in his collection. It’s a great figure to start with. He’s about maybe in his late 40′s, so it could be a midlife crisis sort of deal, but if such an innocent and elegant figure is his start, then that’s a good sign. Unfortunately, he had also asked me about some Ikki Tousen figures. Perhaps it’s not going to be an innocent collection after all.

 Rei Party Dress

I know it may seem like there are many photos of the same angle, but they are different lighting exposures. Some photos will look better on your monitor than other photos.Which photo is your favorite?

 Rei Party Dress

Yes, she has a nice rack. Is that what you’re looking at? Pay attention to the beautiful collar instead!!

 Rei Party Dress

A lower angle showing her collar more. It’s still quite difficult to see.

 Rei Party Dress

More composition play.

 Rei Party Dress

For those of you who have a foot fetish, or like to look as shapely teen girl ass. We’ve got you covered.

 Rei Party Dress

The detail is quite nice on those toes. The folds on her dress look astounding. The base is also made of velvet! It’s a dust-catcher though. A lint remover cleans that right up. (Which is what I did before packing and delivering her).

 Rei Party Dress

THIS was the deal breaker for me. The most detailed design on her is located in an area which you cannot see unless you flip her over. And gentlemen never flip their women over for something like that. icon smile Rei Party Dress

 Rei Party Dress

Another figure come and gone… you will be missed, Rei! Rack up another point for Asuka Langley.

Hope you all enjoyed the photos! See you again soon!

Caren Ortensia

Caren Ortensia

 Caren Ortensia

The beautiful Caren Ortensia, from Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. Manufactured by Alter, she stands 1:8 scale. You may have seen pics of my desk at work if you are part of the Anime Figurines Network on Facebook, and she may have been in there part of the background. Sadly, I never really had her on display for very long before packing her up and putting her in storage.

I’ve taken her out to do a shoot of her because well, she’s another figure for sale. Surprisingly, she was sold to a friend of mine on AFN even before I put her up here.

More pics after the jump!

 Caren Ortensia

Full body shot. I’m not really fond of her “ribbon”. Not because I don’t like it, because I think it really adds flavor. But more like I think it looks and has the texture of a strawberry Fruit Roll-Up.

 Caren Ortensia

I really love the profile of this figure. The melancholic look with her siler wavy hair is quite nice.

 Caren Ortensia

… I guess it’s possible to regret selling a figure…

 Caren Ortensia

 Caren Ortensia

Melancholy…

 Caren Ortensia

I quite like this angle for some reason… she has quite the soft expression. Though I have to say, her mouth is a bit too small looking.

 Caren Ortensia

Here she is without her hat. The shiny silver hair looks much more apparent without the hat.

 Caren Ortensia

I spent a lot of time getting really tight framing of her because of the way she’s curled up. Her arm and shoulder frames her face very well.

 Caren Ortensia

 Caren Ortensia

 Caren Ortensia

 Caren Ortensia

I always love some good frillies.

 Caren Ortensia

The pic is a little blurry, but you can kinda see some seam lines. They’re pretty small though.

 Caren Ortensia

Well, that wraps up this figure, before it gets sent out. Hope you enjoyed it.

I apologize for the brevity of my posts. I’m quite sure that you readers sense that I’m posting very different these past few months. Things have been a little bit all over the place for me lately, and there’s been a lot on my mind.

Estel Freesia

Estel Freesia

More figures have arrived in the past few months, and some figures that I’ve had since last year still remain unopened, in my closet. This is bad news. I’m obviously running out of room, and I need to make room as well as sell off some of the figures I have stored away and will probably never display again. It’s a shame because many of these figures are quite nice.

Estel Freesia

 Estel Freesia

I never thought I would sell her so early. I obtained her less than a year ago. While she is one of the cleaner, neater looking figures, She didn’t make the cut, and am really strapped for space. Made by Kotobukiya, she stands 1:8 scale tall.

 Estel Freesia

I really liked the simple shape and stature of her. She’s very “proper”. I know nothing else about her though. Since I’m at it, here’s a synopsis on her with my findings. She comes from a series called “Brighter Than Dawning Blue” (Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro Na). It seems she’s a very limited character that appears in the PS2 version of the game, and is some sort of religious and mysterious girl. That’s about all I can find, and all that I can really care about.

 Estel Freesia

Her tunic is removable. Though I find the tunic design rather interesting.

 Estel Freesia

 Estel Freesia

Her features are rather interesting. It’s a very clean, symmetrical, near perfect sculpt.

 Estel Freesia

Pretty good detail on that book too. The bracelets are also removable as well as the book.

 Estel Freesia

That’s about it for her. She’s up for grabs for any readers who are interested in owning her.

Who's this?

Who’s this?

01 Whos this?

My sister just got back from Japan and gave me a gift – it’s a Sega Prize figure. But I have no idea who this is supposed to be. Does anyone know? More pics after the jump!

02 Whos this?

This looks like a fairly standard Sega Prize accessory pack – I remember Evangelion Rei and Asuka had the same desk, chair, and school bag, though I could be wrong. It’s cool that it comes with a backdrop and props. Helps make setting up scenes a snap. (ha ha I made a funny).

03 Whos this?

Fairly typical Sega Prize figure quality. The hair is nicely colored with a sort of orange to yellow gradient. Overall, she’s a pretty cute little figure.

04 Whos this?

She carries a whip to school! That’s BADASS!!

05 Whos this?

No idea who this little dude is, but I’m sure that it might be familiar to some of you anime otaku out there, and may help me identify exactly what series this is from, and who the heck this girl is.

06 Whos this?

You’ll notice some mould roughness on her sleeves, but that’s pretty typical of Sega Prize figures, and heck, most gashapons. It seems that it’s the type of PVC they use coupled with the small scale that causes it.

Overall, I like this figure. I wish more figures came with accessory packs like this. It would save me a whole lot of trouble when it comes to figure photoshopping. Oh yeah, there are going to be new Nendoroid accessory sets coming out, starting with the computer desk. I’m sure it’s to satisfy all those Haruhi Nendoroid owners…

Figma Saber - The Best in PVC Posability

Figma Saber – The Best in PVC Posability

saberfigma Figma Saber The Best in PVC Posability

I would have to say that I am MOST impressed with aquiring this figure. For a very long time, I’ve been waiting for a version of Saber that really appealed to me – both in dynamic pose, and in detail. In part, this would be my first armored Saber and first Figma in one go. Fortunately, when I made the purchase, I had committed to this being the first and last Figma I would purchase (for the sake of my wallet, my sanity, and my marriage). I had to make it a good one. Thankfully it is.

Unfortunately, because of how crappy my camera is, I couldn’t take too many close up shots. But the detail is there. Perhaps you would like to know that Figmas are just slightly smaller than Fraulent Revoltechs, so I’m presuming 1:12 scale. That’s TINY.

06 Figma Saber The Best in PVC Posability

The best part about this version of Saber is the posability of her. She’s mostly ball-jointed, so her articulation is very flexible compared to say, Revoltech Saber. She doesn’t seem to have as many articulation points as a Fraulent, but that doesn’t seem to matter with Figmas. But unfortunately, with ball joints, we all know that too much posing will wear it down and cause the joints to loosen. That’s one advantage Revoltechs have with their clicky joints. The deal-maker for me on this Figma though, was the face. She looks far more accurate than any Revoltech figure I’ve ever seen from any series. And don’t get me started on the ebcraft Hyper Fate saber!

10 Figma Saber The Best in PVC Posability

For the Revoltech Saber, they had decided to put her armor flaps on ball joints, but unfortunately, it looked very stiff, and you could see the apparent lameness of it (sorry, Revoltech Saber owners, but it’s the god-damned truth. Suck it.) This version uses ball joints and hinge joints in combination for huge flappy articulation. The armor piece is ball jointed from the back, the blue and white fabric is hinge jointed on the front of the armor plate, and that triangular blue flap you can see in the back. Finally, the very front white fabric is hinged to the blue cloth and front of the armor. Overall basically 3 articulation points.

11 Figma Saber The Best in PVC Posability

You can see the ball-joint from the back in this photo.

09 Figma Saber The Best in PVC Posability

Accessories, accessories! Options, options! I love this. The swords can be sheathed all the way into the scabbards, and the detail is bang-on accurate. I like how the interchangeable hands can be stored safely in this plastic “storage rack” so they don’t get lost. And there are 8 slots too! You know, just in case you want to display your Figma with no hands… In addition, the two hair piece options are great, so you can do dynamic poses and static poses without it looking weird. The three faces, each looking in a different direction, is also a very good idea. Unfortunately, I only decided to use two of the faces for my shots this session.

22 Figma Saber The Best in PVC Posability

In addition, a little zip-lock sealable bag is included so you don’t have to store everything in the box, and try to fish it out everytime you want to change something. The bag also has a hole at the top so you can hang it. If you own multiple figmas, you can also label the bag. Excellent! Mine will stay blank though. I wish Revoltech was more advanced in features this way.

04 Figma Saber The Best in PVC Posability

You may recognize this pose as an attempt to mimic Enter Brain’s Saber.

05 Figma Saber The Best in PVC Posability

08 Figma Saber The Best in PVC Posability

Alter’s Saber Maid pose.

01 Figma Saber The Best in PVC Posability

The Valkyrie Profile classic pose.

As you can see, she’s VERY posable. I have yet to try something drastically dynamic, as I kind of got bored part-way through, so enjoy the other few photos I took!
