I decided that my life was too boring, and I needed to suffer a little bit. Sometimes, you just need to be a drama queen to feel a little bit more alive. Watch me squirm as I struggle to learn Easy Painter Tool Sai!

Improv Painting, Unexpected Purchase

by radiantdreamer March 05, 2010 in Anime Figures, How To Draw Anime & Photoshop 38 comments tags: faerie, goodsmile, K-ON!, nendoroid, photoshop, ritsu, ruka, vocaloid
An unexpected purchase last Friday – I went to Aberdeen Center and saw Ruka for sale at one of the figure shops. Many bootleg nendoroids around, but I could tell this one was authentic. My Ritsu arrived in the mail on the same day too. Two more to go, and my K-On! collection will be complete. I’ve got a special photoshop idea in mind once that happens. A new painting that I did. Only took about 5 or 6 hours, this one. It’s sorta “improv” painting. No reference photos or anything, and just paint whatever comes at the moment. It’s a wallpaper, so click on it if you want to see the full size. Here’s a youtube video of it too! Do you recognize the songs? [pro-player]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYqsZh2nljk[/pro-player] Still on switched gear, so see you all again next time! Stay tuned!

Christmas Miku! Happy Holidays from Radiantdreamer!

by radiantdreamer December 23, 2009 in Anime Figures, How To Draw Anime & Photoshop 35 comments tags: christmas, goodsmile, hatsune, miku, nendoroid, photoshop, radiantdreamer, xmas
Happy Holidays! It’s the holiday season! With Christmas fast approaching, I thought I’d celebrate by creating a photoshop of a Xmas Miku! I was going to do this photoshop on Friday, but guessing from how busy Christmas Day will be, I figure I’d do an early photoshop post this week instead. This actually took a bit longer than I had expected, but it turned out pretty good. Click on the image for a 1280 wallpaper! I’m not 100% sold on the hat. I guess part of it is because it still looks so much more detailed and sharp compared to the simple design of a nendoroid. Plus the lighting is wrong to begin with. I could have painted my own hat, I guess. [pro-player]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCr0ZUspsqg[/pro-player] Though it was a rough start, it’s been a great year for RadiantDreamer! I hope the trend continues next year. Have a safe and Merry Christmas!

Lily just doesn’t get a break! We all know what it can feel like when we’re not wanted. It looks like Saber does too. More after the jump!

Nendoroid Gamers!

I’ve had this ambitious idea in my mind for at least two months now (maybe even three). The original idea was to have them hold Playstation 3 controllers, since Konata is all about the Playstation. But well… I couldn’t get their hands to get close enough. Besides, Wii is way more of a party system anyway. More on how this images was accomplished after the jump!

Miku Paint!! Nendoroids Are Beneficial to Learning!

by radiantdreamer July 19, 2008 in Anime & Video Games, How To Draw Anime & Photoshop 14 comments tags: anime, figure, hatsune, max factory, miku, nendoroid, painting, photo-realistic, photoshop, vocaloid
I’ve been looking back at my own artwork again, and since I haven’t painted in a long time, decided to try some exercises. I want to move more towards realism, in whatever way I can, and try to create things that are unique in both anime and realism – a hybrid as you may have heard me talk about it before. One thing that I did want to improve upon was understanding light and shadow more. So I did a couple of exercise studies and painted a few things that I saw on my desk. It wasn’t very fun until I decided to give Miku a try.
