Outings in October

Sort of a conglomerated post of several outings, starting with my most recent one: Final Fantasy Distant Worlds concert, a motorcycle toy drive, and a tour of our new 2010 Olympics store! It’s very rare that I go out these days, being the shut-in that I am. So it’s a bit refreshing to actually step out of the house to go somewhere. Thanks to my wife, I actually get to breathe some outside air, and get some sunlight. More photos after the jump!

Raquel Gothic – With Pixie Dust

I’ve been putting this off for months, but have finally gotten some time to do a proper photoshoot (34 pix!), review, photoshop image, youtube video, and wallpaper for this well deserved resin statue from e2046. I didn’t want to do a half-decent job because this figure deserves more, and so does e2046. This is probably the biggest post I’ve ever done. Here is an account of my experiences in dealing with e2046’s customer service, as well as an in-depth photoshoot, and photoshop pic after the jump.

As promised, the much anticipated review of Asuka on Motorcycle. I wasn’t even aware that my site has reached 61k hits now! But priorities first – a review of this absolutely amazing investment (yes, investment). More photos after the jump!

Hyudorana Amis Resin

So I stumbled upon this pretty wicked resin kit on hobbyfan. It’s most impressive with excellent detail, and a creative idea. For $100 for a prepainted statue of this caliber, that’s a pretty slick deal. Especially considering standard PVC figures nowadays can cost upwards to $80 a pop. I would have bought it. But, well… there’s a reason why I decided not to. (NSFW)

My Story

by radiantdreamer May 15, 2008 in Anime Figures 9 comments tags: anime, belldandy, figures, my story, PVC, Resin, sakura
My story… is rather simple on the surface, but deeply rooted. I have always been an avid fan of Anime. I grew up in the Macross/Robotech era. I didn’t really understand anime back then as anything different from other cartoons, but took it for the face value that I saw, much as I took to He-Man and GI Joe and Transformers at the time. It wasn’t until high school that I had a more serious point of view on Anime. Watching series like Maison Ikkoku and Orange Road, I could identify with the main characters and their pursuit for happiness with the woman they admired. My identification with these characters stemmed from my own silent crushes with the many girls in my school. Always thinking, never acting. It wasn’t until I went to college that I started getting more interested in Anime and became a proud collector – buying anime CDs and posters, talking about Anime, and playing anime related video games. This was mostly due to the friends I met whom I still consider them my best friends. I had realised that my interest in Macross and Gundam was minimal. I was more interested in the likes of Morrigan, […]

Black Lagoon – Revy 1:6 Polystone

by radiantdreamer May 07, 2008 in Anime Figures 9 comments tags: 1:6 scale, anime, black lagoon, figures, photoshop, Polystone, radiantdreamer, Resin, revy
I’ve had this version of Revy for a while now, but it’s only recently that I actually took her out of the packaging. I originally ordered her with the full intention to sell. Seeing as polystone figures seem to be expensive and all, I thought that I could make a small amount from it (like $20 or something). Turns out, that demand for her at the time wasn’t very high. I don’t know if it still is that low, but regardless, I decided to keep her. She’s now on display, but at a sacrifice of putting two other figures away in order to make the space.

Gothic Devil Girl – hobbyfan -Sparkle-

by radiantdreamer April 21, 2008 in Anime Figures 10 comments tags: 1:6 scale, devil, garage kit, girl, gothic, hobbyfan, lolita, pre-painted, Resin, sparkle
Last week, my order for the Gothic Devil Girl from hobbyfan arrived. I would have to say that I’m very impressed with Sparkle’s work. The paint is excellent, with nary a single mistake with their paint lines. Very accurate, and very detailed, with no bleeds, no stray paint, no rough surfaces. It came packed in a nice labeled box in a very well protected cut foam.

Differences in Plastics – ABS, PVC, Vinyl, Resin, Polystone, oh my!

A while ago, I had posted an article on Anime Figurines Network on the difference between certain types of plastics. Today, I’ve decided to take that article, make modifications and clarifications on it, and post it here. This article will cover various plastics from PVC, to Resin, and their methods, properties and advantages.
