Pretty big megapost today! It’s time for Chinese New Year (with some Taiga!), Valentine’s Day, and the Vancouver 2010 Olympics! I thought about doing separate posts for each, but they’re all pretty important! Let’s get started!
Originally, I was hoping that my Taiga would arrive during Christmas, as it seemed like such a suitable themed figure. But, as it nears Chinese New Year, this Year of the Taiga seems to make good sense too! The box is quite well designed. The two extra faces aren’t even visible unless you looked really hard!
Upon opening the package and taking her out, I noticed a problem: The jewel in her crown was missing!
Fortunately, I found it inside the box. It could have fallen out, and I’d be SOL! The jewel couldn’t be placed back in the crown either. It would just fall out. So I had to use superglue and needle-nose pliers to set it in. I don’t know what sort of plastic it’s made out of (probably ABS) but it melted a little bit under the glue.
Full-length shot. The only real complaint I have is that she’s wearing brown shoes and not some nice glittery high heels. This may be true to the anime, but it looks a little too out of place.
Crown looks good! The head can be rotated and tilted. I tried switching faces, but it was near impossible, it was frustrating. There are some flaws in the design, I think. But no matter, I’m not fond of the other faces anyway.
The sculpt is beautiful, and the lines are clean and simple. It’s a very well done figure. Unfortunately, she has a couple of dirty spots on her skin and dress. Normally, this isn’t a problem for me, but with something so pure and innocent, the dirty spots are really noticeable.
The wings are very well made.
Absolutely beautifully sculpted hair!
The dress is very simple, yet very pretty.
This is the original image that I decided to use for the photoshop image proceeding.
Here’s a 1280 wallpaper! Originally I wanted a real crowd of beauty pageant participants, but decided it would look better as a classy backdrop on a high school stage. You may recall what Taiga actually looked like in the anime.
Seeing her happy is an interesting contrast to what could have been, if the circumstances were right.
Here’s a youtube video of the process in making this photoshop!

Chinese New Year – The Year of the Taiga!
This year is also the Year of the Tiger for Chinese New Year! I took the occasion to unpack my Taiga figure. This was sold to me by Shino. An absolutely fantastic figure that I am so happy to own now!
Originally when she was first available for preorder, I had no intention of buying her. I had no idea who she was, and frankly didn’t care too much for the figure. Things changed after I saw the series, and desperately wanted to get a hold of , so I’m really thankful I was able to get this from his own personal collection.
Happy Chinese New Year!
Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games
The opening ceremony begins in only a couple more hours! Support your country, and tune into your local stations and watch the live broadcasts!
This is Miga, one of the 2010 mascots. This particular figure comes with the McDonald’s Happy Meals. She’s a “seabear”, and she’s my favorite mascot out of well… every Olympic mascot I’ve ever seen! :3
To show my Canadian pride, I’ve attached a flag to my car. Oh Canada!
I was able to catch the torch relay too! It’s such an emotional sight. The red mittens are a very popular symbol in the torch relay. The cool thing is that they’re easily affordable. A lot of people (including myself) own a pair of these mittens. And they’re comfortable and warm too!
Each torch bearer gets about three minutes of fame and glory as they run 300 meters along the designated path, surrounded by police officers, and cheering crowds.
Each torchbearer is chosen based on their contribution to their community. It’s definitely an emotionally overwhelming moment for the torchbearers, and the supporters cheering them on.
The team of bodyguards have been running with the torch across Canada for 3 months straight! 12000 torchbearers across 45000 kilometers!

Here is a youtube video of some of the best moments during the torch relay. The theme song is called “I Believe”, which is the theme of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics.
Official Olympic Vehicle.
This is a small street in a small neighborhood, yet everyone came out to welcome the torch. Seeing Canadians come together to celebrate the event “with glowing hearts”, is very touching.
Some Canadians are smart. This is how Vancouverites fight the rain!
More people!
This kid is holding a Quatchi plushy!
My favorite mascot!
Adorable mascots are adorable.
high five!
My wife and I decided to hit the town and check out the sights too. This is the count down clock. As you can see, only 19 hours left until the opening ceremonies!
A mega huge poster by Samsung.
One of the olympic venues, a beautiful public ice skating rink.
The Vancouver Art Gallery is lit up too!
There are a lot of lights everywhere. It was definitely a very awesome sight.
A collection of Mascot plushies!
From left to right, is Miga, Quatchi, and Sumi. The top right one is the mascot sidekick Muk Muk.
HUGE postal box!
This is how wet my camera got when I was outside taking photos of the torch relay.
The olympic rings floating in the harbor, with Canada Place in view. When a Canadian wins gold, the rings will light up in a celebratory light show!
In addition, lights were setup around town that arrange in designs that can be seen around the city. These designs can be made by anyone who wants, on a website. This is a photo of my design! I designed it so that it could be viewed at virtually any angle and look amazing. I had to do some heavy photoshopping because their live web-cam is of poor quality.
Valentine’s Day
Finally, this Sunday is Valentine’s Day. My wife and I have sort of begun treating it as “any other day”. Commercialism has gotten so out of hand for V-day, it’s impossible to book a restaurant for dinner during V-Day, and it seems to get harder and harder to come up with good gift ideas. Nevertheless, it’s still an important day to remind each other how much your significant other matters to you. It’s also a good day for single people to lay on the hate. How do you celebrate V-day?
Well, that’s it for now. I’m gonna go enjoy the Olympics now!
It really is a busy weekend for us here in Vancouver. I can’t help but feel nothing really for the Olympics. It’s cool and all, but I’m just neutral about it. I will try and go out during this two weeks though, especially when Stephen Colbert is broadcasting XD
I thought about getting the Miss-Con Taiga, but I dunno, it’s a Wave figure, so a lot of times Wave figures get discounted later on. So if I see it for sale, I’d snap it up then 😛 I do have the Max Factory one. Luckily enough I actually got it from a Toyslogic sale. Who knew that it would become one of the hardest figure to find or most expensive on the resell value ^^;
I don’t really celebrate the Lunar New Year, but I’d appreciate any red envelopes coming to me XD And Valentine’s Day is just another day for me 😛
To me, the Olympics is something to be proud of, as part of a nation, and even more so as part of a world of nations, setting aside all their differences to unite for an event the world can commonly share an experience of.
I can’t help but feel a well of emotions within my heart, when I see the smiles on peoples’ faces, and the tears of pride and joy in their eyes, as well as the dedication within each athlete as they strive to do the best they can in what they love. Even more so when I see the excitement in their victories, knowing that what they’ve done was all worth it.
To me, the Olympics isn’t about some sport, or some way of capitalism. It’s our human hearts, and what we strive for within ourselves.
A lot of Wave figures get discounted? I wasn’t aware of this. Do they not sell well or something? Taiga is currently on sale on hobby search for 15% off, plus SAL shipping. I decided to get this figure because every other Taiga figure (except Max Factory version) looks terrible.
Chinese New Year can be fun and festive, but unfortunately there isn’t a whole lot of it in Vancouver, so that’s kind of sad. With the Olympics going on, it seems to me that the festivities will be taking a back seat this year too. I’m not big on Chinese New Year either, but I’m probably more into it than you are.
Well… now that the Olympic’s over, it seems like my stance on my previous comments has changed quite significantly. I think on the days that I’m not working, I’m always tuned on to CTV and watching everything, especially my favourite sport in the Winter Olympics… Curling! XD
But yeah, I have to say everything’s different. I was cheering when Canada scored that overtime goal, but sometimes I’m so out of it that I didn’t even realize that the women’s hockey (Canada vs USA) was the gold medal game 0.o
And hell… 14 gold medals! A freaking record is something to be proud of!
Oh and sometimes Wave figures don’t sell well… You can see at HLJ and HS sometimes that get discounted at 40% to 60% off (or more). That’s why I wait on Wave figures these days ^^; Even my limited edition Yoko had a lot left in stock and on sale when I saw it last time…
What can I say other than “I told you so!”. Curling is quite an intense sport! It’s like chess on ice too! Outside of curling, you’ve missed A LOT of good stuff. There were some incredible moments in the last 17 days, such as Joannie Rochette’s figure skating, and of course, our first gold medal by Alex Bilodeau. I’ve been glued to the TV like a housewife to soap operas. And of course, there was also the intense patriotism all across Canada.
Two Taiga figs of extreme cuteness. Too bad I cant go to opening ceremony, since Im poor, and damn school it should have been a day of, for everyone, and didnt care much for the torch relay. Happy CNY btw^^
I couldn’t go to the opening ceremony either, because I couldn’t get tickets. They had a second opening and you could get tickets for $175. My wife’s coworker/friend managed to grab some. I can’t believe that she didn’t think to get some for us. *shakes head*
The torch relay is interesting – it basically is symbolic in uniting the entire country and all its communities together as one. Especially if you’ve witnessed the torch – you can say that you were part of an olympic moment.
Happy Chinese New Year to you too!
Happy Chinese New Year! Taiga sure is cute. I like that one by Max Factory the most. Unfortunately, I wasn’t collecting figures when she came out so I missed out on her. I haven’t watched Toradora yet but now I’m afraid to because I just know I’m going to want get that figure of her. ><
I don't really follow the Olympics but I do enjoy watching the Ice Skating part. Those plushes are really cute! Why must they make their mascots so adorable? I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff. T-T
It's good you have so much pride for being a Canadian. Those Vancouver pics are really nice! Makes me want to visit Canada again. *-*
Ami, the series is very good! After you finish watching it, you may end up wanting the figure as well. The phrase they use “Palmtop Tiger” definitely applies to this figure. It’s very nice, but unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) she’s really small – small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. Do watch the series though. You won’t regret it!
Figure skating is probably one of my favorite winter olympic events. It’s always so graceful and entertaining to watch, as well as exciting when they perform such amazing stunts!
The mascots were designed by a Vancouver character designer Meomi. At first, the Vancouverites didn’t like them because they looked too Sanrio. I was sold immediately. They have a very nice international appeal, and I think many people have changed their minds about them now.
When you do visit Canada again, definitely let us Vancouverites know! 🙂
Wow I really like the Meomi website! I think Gmail has a theme from Meomi. Now I’m compelled to get some merchandise. *-* I have a soft spot for this kind of cute stuff. Look at what you did! T-T
I forgot to commend you on your Taiga photoshop video. I seriously thought the background was some stock photo. I had no idea it was from an actual Pageant! That is just too awesome! I don’t know how you do it but it amazes me every time.
I really liked Canada when I went. The people there were nice and the air was fresh. The funny thing is there are people who think I’m Canadian over here in Cali. People say I have a Canadian accent! I wasn’t even aware Canadians had an accent. Maybe I should just move to Canada so people can stop asking me. xD
I think I know which theme you’re talking about! I use that theme. It does look like it has the same style. 🙂
I too have a soft spot for cute stuff like this, which is probably why I ended up getting all the mascots. 😛 It’s okay though, it’s always nice to own cute stuff, so you have my permission to buy buy buy! 🙂
Thanks for checking out the video! It looks like I may have to slow down my recording speed a tad bit so that people can actually see what I’m doing. lol!
According to the NBC broadcast on the Olympics, Canadians are the most polite and friendly people on earth! lol!
Canadians actually do have an accent – if you go to the East Coast, in Newfoundland, you’ll hear the accent. Also there is a French accent from Quebecois. Native Americans also have a slightly different accent to their English. As you can tell, Canada is full of variety! XD
I’m not that familiar with Taiga, so I can’t really comment on that other than the sculpt is really nice.
Happy Chinese New Year! Though as I get older, the less red pocket money I get… I want free money! (T_T)
Vancouver Olympic Winter Games are upon us! It’s really a once in a lifetime event I think for Vancouverites to experience something like this right in their own city. It’s especially apparent when I’m working in Yaletown. I do like to check out the figure skating stuff for obvious reasons, but unfortunately I don’t have TV access at work so I’m going to miss out on most of the things live. I also really want the mascots! The set you have look like the huge ones, I want those, but they are way too expensive I think. Miga is also my favorite and if I was going to get a giant plush, it would be Miga.
I HATE VALENTINES DAY!
…
…
I’m so lonely…
I wonder if you’d like watching Tora Dora. The main character is very Tsundere, and it’s definitely a romantic comedy, but very well done. I’d equate it with the same tone and feel of Haruhi (not story or premise, of course).
Interesting how you get less pocket money as you get older. For me, it was quite the opposite. I think it’s due to inflation, and the increasing demand for the need of spending money among growing youth. (We do buy more now than we did as kids). Also, back then, even a couple of bucks seemed like a lot of money!
I’m so proud to be a Canadian today. Seeing so many Canadian athletes, and Canadian born “All-Stars” is very impressive. Seeing the country unite together, seeing the WORLD unite together is an impressive spectacle and feat among humans in general.
The plushies I got are the “regular” sized ones. Not the small ones. The massive giant ones are way too expensive (a couple hundred bucks each, if I recall). I like both Miga and Muk Muk. I think Muk Muk is super cute, but doesn’t get as much exposure as Miga. He also can’t seem to “do” as much stuff as Miga either. I honestly thought that our mascots would end up being a penguin, or a polar bear. I’m glad it wasn’t. 🙂
Valentine’s Day is just another day, really. It’s overrated. Most couples don’t like the hassle of it, and it makes single people feel lonely. Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Just think – relationships are like a double-edged sword, so you can either think of yourself as unlucky, or you can think of yourself as lucky. Trust me when I say that. 🙂
… I don’t know why, but recently (especially today), my wordpress responses have been very long! O_o
Happy CNY! And Happy with the new Taiga photo shoot. (=^^=)
And yeah, it’s a tiger year. Wish I have Taiga figure too, but I don’t…
That was a bit surprise when you said the jewel fell apart. Good thing you could put it back although the plastic melted! Oh, my. Take good care of her.
I always like your idead on how you work to photoshop figures with many kind of arts. Your skills are good too that the outcome looks good and matching with the figure.
With other events… I’m kind of a bit excited, but not much. ( =3=)
Happy Chinese New Year! Indeed it is year of the Taiga! Too bad there isn’t a Year of the Onsen Turtle. 🙂
I think it was a chemical reaction with the glue and the plastic. I notice that seems to happen with ABS plastic and model glue too – it melts slightly, for a permanent bond for gunpla and such.
Thanks for your complements! I will continue to work hard in bringing out the best in combining art and figure photography. 🙂
*_* taiga so cute became my GF this V day please LOL
I ddn’t you live in canada ^^
Happy CNY anyway ^^
lol! Sure thing! I don’t see why she can’t! 🙂
Canada is great! You should come visit Vancouver some time! ^^
Happy CNY!
Taiga is really adorable on this adaptation. I prefer the smiling face more cute ^^ Maybe one day, I will buy this figure, because I love Taiga character ^^ Thank a lot for these beautiful pictures !
I prefer the smiling face too! The other faces don’t look so good, in my opinion. It’s cool that the option is there, and it’s cool that her head can be tilted for the most optimal angle too.
It’s a good thing Wave figures are easy to obtain, so it’s not a big deal if you get one later. 🙂
Awww I miss Vancouver!!! Stayed there for a 6 weeks for my overseas electives and I so love the place. I seriously would have stayed there forever if I didn’t have to go back to NZ to complete my final months of med school haha. Got to know the people and place, fell in love with the whole city! *sob* *sob*
Really? Forever? That is quite a complement to our city! 😀
It definitely is a beautiful city – there aren’t many cities where you have forest, water, and mountain all within a large metropolitan area.
The people are definitely nice. When you get another chance to come to Vancouver, let us all know! 🙂
Happy CNY! Wishin’ ya good health, good fortune, that you get everything you wish for, etc. If I could type Chinese I would.
Yeah, Canadian accent is like this, eh?
And guess who I’m celebrating valentines day with :D?!
…I need a nymph called Echo…
Valentine’s day is just another one of consumerism’s holy days. Interesting how much money is being made out of Saint Valentine’s exploits.
What I’m thinking now is to celebrate it the day before it, in the future. Seems like a sound plan.
The figure shots are great. Awesome wallpaper. The figure’s of splendid quality too, especially the expressions, imo. The other two border between serene and sensual.
I actually missed the opening ceremony ;-; I was playing Star Wars Battlefronts with my friends all night on Friday >.> I still consider myself relatively new to Canada, so I haven’t gained much of the patriotism. I guess I’ll still be cheering for China like all the other double agents we have planted over here.
Happy CNY to you too Ningyo! I wish you good health and good fortune as well, and may your wishes come true.
Yeah, Canadians say “eh” a lot, eh?
Valentine’s day is definitely another consumerist holiday. As we all know, it wasn’t like that before. There are still some people who don’t give into the consumerism and treat it as just another day. “Why should I treat my significant other with love and adoration only on that day? Why not all days of the year?” You can either celebrate it before V-day, to beat the rush and all that, or you can also just make small little gestures throughout the year.
Unfortunately, the other two faces that came with Taiga look absolutely nothing like her. They’re more of faces of sadness, really, which doesn’t capture Taiga very well. I’m happy with the happy face and the rest of the sculpt though. 🙂
You can most likely find the opening ceremony online. It’s quite impressive for the small budget they had. 🙂
Sounds to me like you’re Canadian as well? 😀
Happy CNY and V-day! and I love Taiga in the white dress, absolutely beautiful. About her shoe; I didn’t recall seeing her shoe during the festival scene. Did she wear those? (forgive me for my ignorance x_x)
Happy CNY Canne! Yes, she definitely was wearing those shoes in the anime. Partway through, she tears her dress, and you can see her shoes. http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/907/taiga2ep13wf4.png
She was definitely NOT happy.
Oh, right! Thanks alot. I really need to keep my senses sharp while watching anime 🙂
The pose, dress, tiara and everything on Taiga is very beautiful. BUT i think her face don’t look like Taiga :/ I don’t know exactly why but looking at her make me think about someone else.
Still it stays a nice figure to my eyes 🙂
About the rest … well to put it simply i’m not interested in Olympics at all. Nothing, nada. I may sound rude but i don’t give a …. about sports :p That’s said ^^
Oh yeah today was valentine day … i completely forgot about this lol
I’m not really in scheduled commercial events but V. Day is kinda sad for me for many years now. I try not to think about it too much.
Yeah, her face doesn’t look a whole lot like Taiga. It’s okay close – closest I’ve seen so far besides the Max Factory version. The sad faces are WAY off though.
About the olympics, I don’t care much about sports either. In fact, I don’t watch sports at all. But there’s something about the Olympics that really gets me going. It’s not about the sport at all – it’s about the people. I think my reply to lightningsabre pretty much says it all. 🙂
I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day, but I do agree that Valentine’s Day does get commercialised quite a bit, like Christmas and Easter I suppose.
The Taiga in angel-like costume sure looks happy (not quite like her usual self), unlike what has happened in the anime itself. Btw what are the differences between the two extra faces? One is looking straight and the other looking sideways?
Speaking of Taiga I’ve finally finished watching Toradora 2 weeks ago. The end felt a bit weird to me (I heard it’s a bit different to the novel version there), but overall it’s not a bad series to watch. I don’t really know why I keep on stalling on it though; maybe it’s not my type of thing usually.
As for Winter Olympics I haven’t taken much notice of it, especially when I don’t have a TV over here in the UK. To watch TV one must pay the so-called TV liscense, which is not cheap and since I don’t watch TV often it’s not worth paying for it (the most I watch in TV back home was the news… Pretty much).
Despite all that, Happy Chinese New Year to you!
It’s unfortunate to see such meaningful holidays commercialized to the point where it becomes meaningless. I suppose it’s still in yourself to make it a meaningful event, but it’s getting exceedingly difficult since you basically have to fight with everyone because you WANT do do something special for that day, and not because you HAVE to because of capitalist brainwashing.
I like this version of Taiga, because she’s happy. She rarely got the chance to express her happiness in the anime. Anytime she was given the chance, it was promptly taken away. Yeah, the two other faces, one has her looking rather sad, the other is a little happier, but still sad all the same.
The ending was a little bit strange, wasn’t it? Though I think Taiga had her reasons to do so, and those reasons did sort of make sense. It’s still one of my favorite anime series so far. 🙂
Oh! Japan has a similar TV license thing as well, if I recall correctly. I know a friend in the UK, and he simply reports that he has one TV, even though he has many. Oh well. Everything is available online through streaming media anyway.
Happy Chinese New Year!
Happy Chinese New Year (it’s a day old, but it’s the thought that counts). It’s been so long since I last landed in Vancouver and I have good news… I may be going to Vancouver for a night ^_^ which means I can meet you all in Vancouver! Date TBD and still in planning stages.
Sweet! Maybe we can have a get together with lightningsabre and puppychun! There are a few other vancouverites around here in our circle. 🙂
Must be a load of fun to have the olympics next door ^^
Gorgeous work on Taiga photo as usual! Always instructive to watch, like the lightning effect etc. Not really found of the figure though… guess I prefer Taiga’s tsuntsun side ^^;;;
Happy Chinese New Year too, though it is a bit late orz
Happy Chinese New Year! I guess my reply is quite late too! orz
Surprisingly, I have not yet hit the town to check out the olympics and the sights. I see it on TV, and it’s CRAZY. Not sure if I’m up for all that ^^;
Tsun~ Tsun! I like all forms of Taiga, so I’m lucky and happy to own a happy version, and a tsun version. 😀
Gong Xi Fa Cai!
Very nice Taiga figures! I love Toradora too. ^^
Ho yeah, true, olympics games are located to your place. I’m not the kind to watch sports on tv but when it’s in your own country, that’s enough to be proud!
the mascot is adorable. do you think it would be possible for you to get me one? If yes, we’ll see this by mail
Now i’m mad at me! i canceled Taiga from wave because i thought her face was a failure and too square on hobby search photos…. i do regret 🙁
she’s very pretty and wings are really well finished.
Fortunately you recovered all tiara jewelry, would have been a shame otherwise
in any case wonderful photos. she inspired you. thanks for the wallpaper
Glad you obtained taiga from Max Factory. one of the best taiga to date
About valentine, for me it’s not a special day… there’s too much commercial stuffs around events now… and all this exasperate me
when you love you don’t need a special day to say it or offering gifts. 🙂
Sure I can get you a mascot! Which one(s) do you want? Just send me an email and we’ll get things going!
You’re right about Taiga: her face looks a little “square”. I’m assuming this is probably because of the swappable face+ball joint neck. But overall, it’s still very nice. Fortunately for you, Taiga is still available from hobbysearch and other places too!
You’re right about valentine’s day. 🙂 Though a valentine’s day card is always nice. <3
Happy CNY and V-day!!!
Great photos! I like and enjoy the video of how you added the background to the Taiga figure. She is sure cute. I didn’t know her existence actually till now.
It must be a great experience to have the Olympics hosted in your country huh.
heya softz! Thanks for the comment. Yeah, she’s quite the cutie! When I saw her the first time, I couldn’t help myself, and preordered her right away! She’s available on hobbysearch if you’re interested in buying her.
The olympics is awesome. We’ve hosted it on Canadian soil three times already, and we have never won gold until this olympics. Definitely one to go down in history!
I thought about getting that Taiga figure, but in the end there was just something about her face that didn’t sit right with me. I also have a Miga and Sumi plushie, but no Quatchi or Muk Muk 🙁
You’re so lucky being in Vancouver now. I saw the olympic torch as it passed through Edmonton, but there were tons of cops because apparently some students were planning to tackle the torch bearer.
No Quatchi or Muk Muk?! Why?? They’re so cute!
I really hate how these protesters and general riff-raff are disrupting the games. The protesters got in the way here in Vancouver’s Victory Square too, causing the torch to be rerouted. One of the torch bearers didn’t get his chance at it because of that. There were a lot of veterans at Victory Square, ready to celebrate. Seeing an old veteran cry on TV was very very sad. And then a bunch of other protesters went around smashing store windows and stuff too! It’s stupid, and only makes everyone not want to listen to the protesters even more!
I know, ruining everyone else’s day is the worst way for someone to protest something. It just makes them the bad guys.
Happy CNY & V-Day!
Very nice photos! May I know how do you get such lighting? I’m trying hard to get the natural lighting setup.
Me and my GF have the same feeling about v-day. It is being too commercialize where crowd is everywhere and expensive meals. We decided to have fun on other days where we can save the money.
Hi B-Mecha!
Happy CNY & V-Day to you too!
To get a more natural lighting, you might want to follow happysoda’s tutorial. Keep in mind however, that he seems to be a lot more pro at it. I had extreme difficulty getting proper lighting, even after following his setup.
Good call on having fun on other days. V-day is just another day, really. 🙂
Very nice photos and drawing ^^
Now you really makes me wanna own one of the taiga figus that ive missed >_<
Oh and also a very Happy Taiga New Year to everyone too ^^
Thanks Jun! You can still order this particular Taiga figure on hobbysearch. They’re having a special discount on it, and SAL shipping is available!
Ok np … will take a look hope its not to expensive
So far of all the Taiga figures the Max Factory one is my favorite. I really love the expression and the adorable tiger.
I like how you made the Taiga photoshop be similar to a school play. It works really well and the lighting in that picture looks so beautiful!
Quatchi still continues to scare me, I love giant fluffy things, but he looks like he just might eat all the players in the games. You are so lucky to be living in Vancouver, you really get the first hand experience of what is going on Olympics. I don’t imagine you are actually able to go to any of these games, but news travels fast I would imagine.
Anyway, eh oh Canada go! X)
Thanks Lostty! 😀
Quatchi is my wife’s favorite, probably because he’s big and fluffy. I know what you mean though – he totally would eat Miga and Muk Muk if given the chance! XD
So far, the Olympics has been very fun. Downtown is ALWAYS full of people now. It’s like Times Square in New York during NYE, except everyday, even during the day! There are giant screens everywhere showing the games, and all sorts of pavilions with great sights. Parking is insane though, and public transit is clogged too! 🙁
Hey radiantdreamer, happy new year!!! (a little late, but better than never ^^U)
I really liked this post with the Olympics bits, it looks like so much fun! and the mascots are cute, unlike the korea-japan ones -_-U (gawd I still remember those, and not in a nice way)
Gotta agree with the figure, the shoes don’t go well with the dress; they should’ve let the dress down like in the anime or give her some cute sandals.
Hi Yakuri! It’s good seeing you again! You were gone for quite some time! 😀
Isn’t it ironic how the Vancouver mascots look so much like Japanese Sanrio products, while Japan’s mascots don’t look nearly as cute? lol
Taiga actually does tear off the bottom of her skirt in the anime, revealing her clogs. She was so miserable in the anime, so it’s great seeing her happy in the figure, even if her shoes are terrible. 😛
I absolutely love both those Taiga figures, why I don’t own them is beyond me. I should see if I can get at least one of them in the near future. Happy everything way late! It’s good to know that my wife and I aren’t alone in not really doing much for Valentine’s Day anymore. Some people act like it’s a sin if you don’t do all kinds of romantic things, but really it’s a commercial holiday at best. Not really following the Olympics this time around but that doesn’t mean I don’t like it ^^
