Finally Finished Final Fantasy XII

by radiantdreamer March 11, 2010 in Anime & Video Games 61 comments tags: ashe, balthier, basch, final fantasy, fran, game, penelo, playstation, square enix, vaan, xii, xiii
One of my reasons for laying off the blogging for a bit was to finish Final Fantasy XII. Now, at 10:40pm, I’ve got a little bit of breathing room before I tackle my next game, Final Fantasy XIII. (my order has been delayed). So what of this 3-year old Playstation 2 game? To sum it up, I think Final Fantasy XII is “Final Fantasy Done Right”. I’m not going to go into a review or anything, but more like pick out the concepts that made XII one of the better games in the series.

Miku Hatsune in SC4?! Well, sort of…

by radiantdreamer August 07, 2008 in Anime & Video Games 20 comments tags: alice in wonderland, auron, bandai, bruce lee, cammy, character creator, dead or alive, final fantasy, flame haze, hamburglar, kasumi, little red riding hood, miku hatsune, nakoruru, namco, no more heroes, phoenix wright, ronald mcdonald, sailor moon, sakura, samurai shodown, shana, sienna, Soul Calibur, street fighter, the last blade, travis touchdown, video games, vocaloid, yuki
The Create a Soul feature of Soul Calibur IV is pretty fully featured this time around. They’ve added a lot of detail to it in order to make clothes fit better, have more colored parts, and overall good revamp of the color tinting system so things don’t go completely out of whack when tweaking colors. Several people on NeoGAF have already made some great recreations. I’ve posted my own recreations here, as well as a few of my favorites that I’ve seen on GAF, with minor modifications. Note that all details are color calibrated as accurately as possible, and with Japanese voices instead of English.

Expressing Otakuism Proudly … Without Looking Like One

EDIT: due to the definition of what Otaku really is, this topic more describes being an “anime fan” than a true otaku. Take what you will from it and be proud to express your fandom! Sometimes, one may feel the need to express their interests and hobbies proudly. They might decide to wear a shirt of their favorite anime, or carry a keychain of their favorite character, or use a wallet emblazoned with the logo of their favorite show. But the truth is, most non-otaku people will look at you funny. They don’t share the same interests as you, and don’t understand your fandom is not of nerdiness, but of a form of expression. Much like how a sports fan wears a sports jersey of their favorite team. The difference though, is that sports is widely accepted. So let’s look into what you can do to still be a fan, but not look like a dork.
