Wonder how it was made? Now that Blazblue has officially been released in Europe, I am opening up this post with some interesting details, and of course, a youtube video of how it was done.
A lot of stuff has happened in these past couple of weeks that I’d like to post about, but really lack the time. I fixed a couple of broken figures, cleaned figures, got new figures, I actually attended an Olympic event, and did some commission work. In addition, I’ve been working like a fiend on my new iPhone game. I’ve also been playing a lot of Resonance of Fate (yes, it won me over Final Fantasy XIII) and thoroughly enjoying it. It reminds me a lot of Valkyria Chronicles for some reason, which was also epic.
Comrade Punynari decided to hold a contest for artists to design a new mascot for his site, Moe Passion. He used a moe character generator (more info on his site), to design the mascot, but wanted something with a little more artistic liberty to fit with his site’s main theme – being a blog of a US sailor and otaku. His design was quite interesting, and very impressionable to me, so I gladly took on the challenge. That and he also wanted to draw on a Navy motif gave me just the inspiration I needed in order to make his mascot Sakura more unique. Drawing this style was definitely out of my comfort zone, as I don’t do a lot of moe feeling characters. That and I’ve still yet to grasp the subtle nuances of the loli-moe proportions.
An unexpected purchase last Friday – I went to Aberdeen Center and saw Ruka for sale at one of the figure shops. Many bootleg nendoroids around, but I could tell this one was authentic. My Ritsu arrived in the mail on the same day too. Two more to go, and my K-On! collection will be complete. I’ve got a special photoshop idea in mind once that happens. A new painting that I did. Only took about 5 or 6 hours, this one. It’s sorta “improv” painting. No reference photos or anything, and just paint whatever comes at the moment. Pretty big megapost today! It’s time for Chinese New Year (with some Taiga!), Valentine’s Day, and the Vancouver 2010 Olympics! I thought about doing separate posts for each, but they’re all pretty important! Let’s get started!
This week, I got two figures within 24hrs of each other. First was Supercell Miku Hatsune (The World Is Mine), and the next day, Black Rock Shooter. I took some pictures, but for some reason, didn’t feel like doing a photoshop of either of them this week. Not sure why. Oh well. My blog isn’t about catching the latest greatest trends anyway! It’s about sharing what I love. ^_^ So instead, I drew a fan art. Last night, I was up from 10pm until 2pm, reading Death Note. I’d already finished reading it before, but something about it is just gripping. I really enjoyed it. I was looking for a picture of L facing forward to use as reference. Interestingly, I only found 2 (and they’re not good shots). Every other shot of L shows him either 3/4 view, profile, or just slightly between front and 3/4 view. It was a little frustrating, but an interesting find. So today, I decided to paint up L from Death Note. He’s my favorite. I like how goofy he is, yet so lethally smart.
